So as you may be aware I am organising this years European Hula Hoop Convention (and Sheffield Circus Skills Convention) in Sheffield on 7th-9th September 2012. This is quite some challenge organising such an event, and I have a lot of work to do! So I have been visiting lots of other conventions to get ideas, and learn from these experiences before our convention in Sheffield! http://www.hoopcon.eu So I went to the Dresden Juggling Convention in Germany, where I actually performed in the Gala Show and I taught some hula hooping. This I think has actually been my favourite convention so far. Below are some photos from Dresden taken by http://arne-sonnenburg.de I returned to the UK to continue with my studies, but came back to Germany not too long afterwards for the Bremen Juggling Convention, and to film a somewhat bizarre music video with Aleks and her friends in Hamburg. The music video was filmed on a farm, and at least the goats seemed impressed by our hula hooping ;) While I was over there I also visited the other Strudel Girl (Birte) in Berlin and finally went to check out and train at the Katakomben, Berlin's Juggling Centre http://www.jonglierkatakomben.de/ I came back to the UK just in time to head to the British Juggling Convention in Southend. I have missed the last few BJC's due to injury and operations, so I was just really happy to be there this year. Plus they ran some rather useful workshops such as how to run a convention - I figured this might be useful for tips to help me with this years European Hula Hoop Convention! I also taught some hula hoop and it was so nice to catch up with old friends and make some new! After the BJC I had a mad panic to get all my university work done and handed in before heading back to Germany for FS-Con (Fire Convention) in Kassel. This convention was amazing, and again one of the best conventions I have ever been to. I take my hat off to Sam, Anne and Lucky www.poiandfriends.com for organising this - I just hope I can do such a good job with my convention! Anyway while I was there I taught a hula hoop workshop, performed in the show, caught up with friends and even got a little bit sunburnt because the weather was so nice!
